In order to add value to Ray Ryder’s regional tour to Kalgoorlie-Boulder, we were engaged by the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder to facilitate a music industry workshop that provided local musicians the opportunity to hear what it takes to craft an album of original songs, record and meticulously rehearse them, and take the show on the road. Our role was to develop marketing and promote the event to local musicians, act as the facilitator for the workshop.
Feedback indicated that the workshop was of very high value to the participants. Ray and his band shared valuable industry insights on a range of topics, and graciously answered any questions the group had. Collaborative discussions allowed participants to consider their own personal songwriting styles; sharing this with each other was an invaluable tool. Despite the reputation of musicians being social creatures, these kinds of forums are few and far between. Having a professional touring musician facilitate a discussion was incredibly useful, and was evidence that more opportunities such as this should be investigated.
